Everlast MMA Gloves Review
Avid MMA and contact sports fans have probably already heard the name Everlast. Though are their gloves any good?
In this Everlast MMA Gloves Review, we examine some of their best and latest MMA gloves. Most importantly what’s good about them and what’s not.
Table could not be displayed.Who Are Everlast?
Everlast is a brand name that’s synonymous with boxing gloves, which is strange for a company that started selling swimwear back in 1910. Later the founder Golomb transformed the company into a sports retail store.
However, it wasn’t until Jack Dempsey introduced boxing to Golomb that the company found its calling. Golomb designed special protective gear for Dempsey, and that led to him winning the 1919 heavyweight championship…the rest, as they say, was history.
Everlast today is active in more than 101 countries with their products sold across the world.
The company recently started selling MMA gloves banking on their success with boxing gloves. Though most of their MMA gloves have not been something to write home about except for a few that we'll discuss today in our Everlast review.
Are Everlast MMA Gloves Good?
Everlast’s MMA gloves will not win any awards for quality. However, they do offer budget MMA fighters the best possible value for money.
Everlast’s MMA gloves last long, and they cost around $25 on average. So anyone on a budget can afford them and not have to worry about quality.
However, since corners are cut, and compromises are made, Everlast’s MMA gloves can’t compete with more specialist brands of MMA gloves such as Hayabusa and Venum.
With that in mind, it's safe to say that Everlast MMA gloves are perfect for beginners looking to get into mixed martial arts, without having to spend a fortune on gear.
What’s The Price Range?
Everlast’s MMA gloves are one of the cheaper brands out there. On average they tend to cost between $20-$50.
Despite many of their gloves not being the best, there are some that are genuinely good and definately worth considering.

Everlast MMA Grappling Gloves Review
About
The Everlast Mixed Martial Arts Grappling Gloves are durable and provide excellent wrist support via full wrist wrap strap. The glove is also highly customizable based on your wrist size.
The latest design offers further refinement to help with finger flexibility with added hand protection. Grapplers will find that the articulated finger ridges provides ease of movement great for both mitt work and grappling.
Quality & Material
Made primarily from synthetic leather, The Everlast Grappling Gloves are extremely durable. The glove also boasts of Everfresh’s antimicrobial lining, which helps with preventing odour and ensuring a fresh smell.
Though don’t expect to wash them as they can have an adverse effect on the Everfresh lining inside. That said if you wear it with proper wrapping, it will not require washing.
As with a lot of different MMA and boxing gloves, the Everlast grappling gloves have what we call a 'break in period'. The gloves may be slightly rigid and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks, but once you start to wear them in, they'll loosen up and fit better to your hand.

About
The Everlast MMA Heavy Bag Gloves as the name suggests is especially designed for heavy bag work. Though it can also be used for light bag and striking too.
It should be noted that many people have reported the glove being uncomfortable to wear for the first couple of weeks until they've been properly broken in.

Possible Alternative – Venum
Venum is one of the leading manufacturers of high quality, professional MMA gloves. Perhaps the only argument against Venum’s MMA gloves, in general, is that they are expensive.
The brand has an entirely different approach to manufacturing and designing an array of MMA gloves.
Much of what they manufacture is the result of years of sports technology development. It is for this reason that it the brand of choice for many professional MMA fighters.
Venum MMA gloves are available in both grain leather as well as synthetic leather. The company also has its own brand of anti-microbial technology which helps to remove odor.

What Are The Different Types Of MMA Gloves?
Grappling/ Hybrid/ Training
These gloves also fall into the category of sparring gloves. However, when most people mention training gloves, they actually mean gloves used for heavy bag work.
These gloves usually have the most padding. Though they can be used for grappling but are not ideally suited for this purpose.
If you are looking for MMA gloves for both heavy bag work, sparring and training then try the ones with finger loops and a striking area. The added padding will protect your hand and allow for enough finger maneuverability for grappling.
Competition/ Fighting
These gloves too are meant to protect both fighters but have less padding than regular sparring gloves. The objective of these gloves is to make competing easier for the fighter wearing it. However, there are some sparring gloves which can also be used for competition though they need to be around 5 ounces.
If you are looking for fighting gloves, please check with the fight organization. Gloves that are 4 oz and lower usually have little to no padding, so they are not well suited for sparring.
Sparring Gloves
These gloves are primarily designed to help MMA fighters during practice. When in the market for sparring gloves only buy ones that explicitly state that they are meant for sparring. Check the description and read the label.
Getting the wrong gloves would mean that you’re risking your hands. Generally, there are two types of MMA sparring gloves. The first type looks like traditional MMA gloves with finger slots. The other has large protective padding around the striking area with finger loops.
Now both the ones with finger loops and a finger slots are fine for sparring. It is up to your personal preference. Though you’ll always want to choose sparring gloves that have more padding because the goal is not to injure your sparring partner.
